Nolan Ruocco just finished the race on this tire that was going flat over the last 5 laps after running over track debris.

These Falken 615k's are the toughest performance tires around period. Without them, we would not have held on for second place.

So this should not really come as a surprise but... Big Red is at it again. Strong driving and the cars indomitable will to work have us pushing for top 5 overall from Class 3.

We SΓ©bastien David went 2 hours to start the race in hopes of catching a double yellow that never came.

Luckily Nick Contessa was out second and a double yellow popped after many made their second stop and inside our window to pit. We were able to get in and out and steal a lap on the Blue By You Mustang who we are dualing for Class 3 lead with.

Jonathan Shevel (Ricky Bobby) is currently in the car with Eric Pennington on deck.

Stay tuned because we are hanging tough and can hopefully stay at the pointy end of the stick.

Daniel W. SycksI think he posted it in Track Crew? I have not seen a deal that good there before but James also says this trailer is beat and needs work. Pics seem reasonable to me. Bought it figuring there is no way to lose money on the deal. James Clays standards for beat are obviously way different than mine so this should be a slam dunk. ;)

Daniel W. SycksWe are pretty good at raiding OEM parts bins to find stuff we need. Raid the Corvette and newer CTS-V chassis and take the biggest best parts available while cutting as much weight as possible. This gives us literally twice the pad volume as the system that was on the car when it raced and won in Koni Challenge. The rigors of endurance racing are real.

Found it!

With almost an hour left in the race Sunday, Nick Contessa called in saying that he lost power and the car was acting odd.

We feared the diff was dying so we cut pace by 8 seconds a lap and protected position.

Then we heard a miss as the car went past the pits on the front straight. Panic set in and we held out hope that the car would hold on.

We got a yellow flag, let the car rest then the power came back and the miss went away. We scratched our heads and limped. Still fast enough that Scott Barton thought we were racing (tease poke) but the goal was to not blow up.

And here it is. We lost a coil.

Thank goodness that's all it is. Big Red is a little maintenance away from being ready to race.

The car is painfully durable and has responded to almost every adjustment and evolution with added magnificence.

I am proud to be associated with this brute as it inches ever closer to legend status.

Both Big Red and The UFO have been accepted to the Lemons 10th Anniversary race at Gingerman Raceway.

Its quite an honor to be able to join in a celebration of the birth of affordable street tire endurance racing. To get 2 cars in is quite a plum.

We have a few drivers lined up but have seats at reasonable prices for those interested. This will be more low key and laid back.

We will also be trying out some new organizational stuff in hopes of improving overall experience and efficiency.

The track is slowing down in the horrible heat of the afternoon and our diff cooler is leaking slowly. :(

But. The car is on average 4-5 seconds a lap faster than the field. The top cars are averaging 2:26 or 2:27s and we are doing 2:21s or 2:22s.

Daniel W. SycksWe are not beating on the car. It's a pretty smooth drive. Tires and brakes were good after first stop. PSI was high but the heat is crazy. If they look as good next stop I will feel pretty confident. As far as the diff goes, we are hatching plans and pondering options. The leak is up top so we are currently cycling the pump and not leaving it on all the time to help move fluid but minimize leaking.

Solid but imperfect morning at VIR.

Got lucky and found a small leak in the new diff cooler we put in this week which would have taken us out of contention had we no found it.

Sadly we lost 2 laps in the mad thrash to fix it before the green dropped.

Out on the track however, Big Red is majestic and fast. Fast time of the day by 2 seconds and we are blowing through the pack.

Red Reck is making laps and has a short at winning it's class. Steve Lannoch is chopping down smooth consistent laps and looks great!

We are a week away from invading VIR for the 24 hour race with Chumpcar.

These are the two cars we are running. Big Red and the Red Reck. Big Red, our E34 is fresh off its win at Watkins Glen pictured here where it was able to get the job done, down on power and limping on 4.5 cylinders.

Now with a fresh M50 we are ready to punch the clock and go to work on one of the most heavily contested endurance racing events in America.

Red Reck is one of the great cars of street tire endurance racing and will be pressed into service as our second car with The UFO (Nissan NX2000) as backup to the two.

Robin BankRacing two endurance races in two successive weekends having logged 4700 miles of transport for those two races and having a third successive race this weekend I am a bit busy! By the end of this weekend we will have logged about 6000 transport miles in three weeks time... Would love to race you guys at VIR but getting some more guys their SCCA Licenses is higher prioroty for us at this time so they can run the 25 Hours of Thunderhill.... It is a shame the SCCA Bracket Enduro and the 24 at VIR Conflict in date. :( In any case, good luck at the race!

Be aware! We have a seat open for NJMP with AER July 15-17th.

This seat is in the Cadillac CTS-V Koni car, so drivers will need a solid background with high power cars.

We may also be running Big Red which is very adept at picking up a lot of hardware and should be an obvious contender in Group 3. It is not as demanding to drive but drivers would still need to meet the AER requirements for drivers.

Prices will be $1300-1800 depending on car and if you are doing a single or multiple races later in the year.

Interesting video. I am not going to comment on how I feel about it and welcome others to offer a thought or two on what you see.

I do ask that comments attempt to be constructive and based on safety issues of racing and not devolve into poo tossing as any time two cars make contact, there are at least two cars involved. Maybe more.

Is that the "400SX" with a Lexus 4.0 V8 that came out from the east to win the Western region Chumpionship race at Laguna Seca last December? They drove OK then, but I can't say that I was pleased with their entry in general...

Evan HornerAfter watching it a few times, I want to say that both drivers carry some of the blame. The 240 driver was excessively aggressive in his passing, but the driver of the camera car had poor spacial awareness of the speed differential between the 2 cars and didn't leave room to race. Not a cut and dry situation.

Daniel W. SycksI have a thought on this. Several actually. If you are in a pro race with a bunch of pros in a field of pro cars... have at it. Everyone is grown. This was a Chump race. There are people on track for the very first time in their lives in a wide range of cars. This is a very fast section of track and this incident is coming up on a very dangerous area. If the car attempting the pass had made the pass work, they would have still been stuck behind another slower car. As they were nowhere close to making that pass stick they may have hoped the camera car would lay up and let them through? Who knows. Bottom line in my mind is that this is a lot of risk for very little reward. If someone in one of our cars tried this I would not be super pleased and would encourage them to please leave those few seconds on the table and take a safer pass. Its not like the car they are driving will have problems getting around.

Daniel W. SycksJonathan Shevel is our lead dude on such things and yes, his work. Its all tig welded Docol R8 tube and base plate. We will likely try and get a bunch of detail pics so we can show off some details to go along with these sort of "big picture" shots.
